Mobil is one of the oldest entities in American automobile history even in the world that holds a business history of over 150 years. The formal establishment of the former company Mobil Corporation traced in 1870 in name of Standard Oil that established by John D. Rockefeller and Henry Flagler as a corporation in Ohio where other shareholders and co-founders were Stephen V. Harkness, William A. Rockefeller, and Samuel Andrews.
In that earlier time, Standard Oil was an American oil-producing, refining, transporting, and marketing company that was the largest oil refiner in the world. In 1931 the company merged with another American company, Vacuum Oil Co., and formed Socony-Vacuum Oil Co. Thereafter, in 1955, the company was renamed Socony Mobil Oil Company, and in 1963; it changed its trade name from "Mobiloil" to "Mobil" introducing a brand new logo and renamed again as Mobil Oil Company in 1966.
Now Mobil Oil Company is the part of ExxonMobil where the merge made with Exxon (Former ESSO, 1911) in 1999 and the brand name Mobil remaining unchanged under the new company ExxonMobil. ExxonMobil continues Mobil as its major brand name where ExxonMobil fuels, lubricants & other product divisions were separately continuing different product lines. The Mobil brand now mainly covers a wide range of automotive, industrial, aviation, and marine lubricants as well as a range of automobile care and maintenance products.
