Last updated on 06-Nov-2022 , By imran

Purchasing any used bike is a risky business. If you are not careful, you might end up losing money, getting scammed or worse, hurt. However, if you are smart and lucky, you can end up with a gem as well. Different types/brands/series of bikes are always different when buying secondhand or used. There are a total of 4 sets of bikes of the Yamaha R15 series. They are the Yamaha R15 V1, Yamaha R15 V2, Yamaha R15 V3, and Yamaha R15 V4.

Is it right to purchase a used Yamaha R15?

Out of the four sets, the Yamaha R15 V1 and Yamaha R15 V2 are now discontinued. This means that even if you want, you won’t get these two sets as new. The Yamaha R15 V3 and Yamaha R15 V4 are still readily available in Bangladesh.

The five things that you need to consider before buying a used bike are the following:

Motorcycle Condition: The condition of the bike should be the first thing that you should consider. Both the internal and external condition of the bike should be properly checked when purchasing the bike. In order to carry out the inspection, you should take an expert biker or a technician during the purchase so that they can properly check the bike. If any of the features or components of the bikes are questionable, you should question the owner.

Restoration and repair: If any of the components of the bike require restoration or repair, you should consider the cost for it. If the bike’s parts are readily available, you won’t have to go through any problem. But if the bike is the Yamaha R15 V1 or the Yamaha R15 V2, you might have to get through a lot of hassle to find the parts.

Document status: In countries such as Bangladesh, there are some bikes that have questionable paperwork's. Hence you should be extra careful when you are purchasing the bike. And you should not purchase any bike that has documents that are out-of-date. You should instantly go to the BRTA/Road and Transport authority to check the papers even after purchase and update them.

Resale Value: When buying any bike, new or old, you should definitely make queries about the resale values of the bike. If it is a very new series, such as the Yamaha R15 V4, in that case, you are supposed to get good resale value. But if you are buying a very old series of bikes such as the Yamaha R15 V1, the resale value will be questionable. The condition of the bike also determines the resale value.

Buying price: Finally, if you are buying a bike, you should always consider your budget and the bike that you are buying. No matter the initial price of the bike, when you are purchasing the bike, you should definitely negotiate for the bike very carefully. If the bike you are purchasing is quite old, such as the Yamaha R15 V1 and the Yamaha R15 V2, in that case, you should not spend too much. But if you are buying a bike such as the Yamaha R15 V3 or the Yamaha R15 V4, you should consider having a very high price.

These are things that you should consider when purchasing a used bike. Bikes such as the Yamaha R15 V3 and the Yamaha R15 V4 will have a very high purchasing price and very high resale value due to their popularity. But if you are buying an old bike such as the Yamaha R15 V1 or the Yamaha R15 V2, you should be very careful. At the end of the day, the purpose of your purchase will determine whether you got a good deal or not.
