Right from the word go you will realize that TVS has put lots of time & effort into this new motorcycle. Not only they made a new bike but they made the TVS Apache RTR 160 better (Source). They borrowed the design from TVS DRAKEN. They made a new engine for this motorcycle & thought about the market demand to install a wider rear tire.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Review - Style & Design The new motorcycle also features new halogen headlight with LED DRL, LED taillight, side air scoop to the fuel tank, engine cowl, double barrel exhaust, split grab rail, rod handlebar compare to previous RTR160 3 part handlebar.

They borrowed the switch gears, rear view mirror from the previous RTR160 but the rest of the bike is completely newly designed. They added a new fully digital speedometer which shows you many things including the top speed recorder & 0-60 kmph fastest timer. What I didn’t like the cheap AHO off switch which TVS Auto Bangladesh Ltd added here in Bangladesh just doesn’t go with the rest of the switch gears.

The riding posture is now more comfortable as they added the rod handlebar. Although the saddle height is a bit high it won’t be any major issue for the bikers. For the rainy season, the rear tire guard will help protect the dirty water hitting the bikers on the rear. Also, the rear grab rail will give the impression of the logo of Batman.

Some people will complain about the placement of the fuel filler cap but let’s take this as something different in styling. They used a two-barrel exhaust; they could have added something around it to look a bit fat. The engine produces 16.3 BHP @ 8000 RPM & 14.8 NM of Torque @ 6500 RPM. Then fuel supply is a carburetor one and hopefully they will launch the Fi version soon in Bangladesh this year.

Oil cool engine will help to cool down the hot engine faster than a conventional air-cooled engine. In an oil cool system, the engine oil is circulated through a radiator through which cold air passes as the bike is in motion. The bike has 270mm front disc brake & on the rear, there is a 200 mm disc brake. Both the brakes are petal disc brakes. In this TVS Apache RTR160 4V, they gave 130 section rear tire. The tires are tubeless & are attached to 17 inches wheel. They gave this bike a double-cradle split synchro frame. TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Review - Riding Experience This engine is ALIVE! You will find good low & mid-range torque, hence good ready pickup. The engine is refined and I love the way it revs up to 7000 RPM. Pass 7000 RPM you will feel the vibration on the footpeg, handlebar & on the fuel tank but that is manageable like its competitors.

The 5-speed gearbox is very smooth rights from the word go. In the early days, you might find it sometimes difficult to turn the bike from gear to neutral but after the first service, that issue goes away. The exhaust sound isn’t very sweet but I will give it an OK. The turning radius of the bike isn’t the best in this segment for city riding against its competitors given this has a rod handlebar but due to the side air scoop which is extended the turning radius is compromised.

To me, the good suspension feedback made me happy both from the front & the rear. Even if you carry a heavy pillion you can ride comfortably. The rear 130 section tires do provide good cornering ability to the bike.

The twin-disc brake does work well but they need to update it. To me, they are good but not the best in this segment. Overall am happy with the handling & cornering ability of the bike but I think it would have been better if they could have made the bike 5 kg lighter. Whether it is high speed or low speed cornering the bike stays very well stable. The tire grip isn’t the world’s best but as a package, it works well.

Talking of weight, for short thin riders maneuvering this 147 kg bike sometimes may be difficult in a congested parking spot but I have to say even this is the heaviest bike in this segment they have worked the weight distribution well. In our 2500 km of test ride, I found the build quality of the motorcycle top-notch. This is a place where TVS really worked well. In the cold morning starting the bike could be a bit difficult if you don’t use the choke switch.

As this is a bike which has the RTR badge the top speed we managed to achieve was 132 kmph & in city riding condition the mileage figure was around 35-38 kmpl whereas on the highway you can get mileage feedback of 42 kmpl.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Review - Pros & ConsPros:

Most powerful engine in its segment.
Refine engine.
Good low & mid-range torque.
Good build quality.
Good suspension feedback.
Good cornering & handling ability.

Cons:

That extra AHO off switch looks cheap.
Breaking not the best in the segment.
Missing the 6^th
Turning radius is big given this has rod handle.
The double barrel exhaust doesn’t look good. (Although this varies from biker to biker).
