Description

The word ‘Samurai’ roughly translates to ‘warrior’. Ancient Japanese had high respect for Samurais as they spent their entire life to training to become warriors. When Suzuki released the Suzuki Samurai 150, people understood that this bike will be able to take a beating and still stand strong, as this is a 150cc commuter bike. Back in the days, Suzuki Samurai was a notoriously legendary motorcycle. When the newer version came as the Suzuki Samurai 150, people were quite excited about the bike.

Suzuki is a Japanese motorcycle manufacturer. Suzuki is considered as one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world. There may be only a handful of people in the world that don’t know about Suzuki motorcycles. Suzuki has also successfully made quite a lot of commuter bikes. A few of the most notable commuters of Suzuki are the Suzuki GSX 125, Suzuki Bandit 150, Suzuki Gixxer 155, and Suzuki Samurai 150.

Key Features:

The Suzuki Samurai 150 comes with a very informative analog instrument cluster. The instrument cluster has a rev counter, speedometer, gear position indicator, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meter, and other necessary indicators. We believe this instrument cluster will be very helpful for riders who are fairly new to motorcycling. However, a digital meter would’ve been better.

The Suzuki Samurai 150 comes in three major colors. They are:

  1. Red,
  2. Blue,
  3. Black.

All the above colors come with similar decals. The bike is a commuter bike, nonetheless, the bike gets very sporty decals which makes the bike significantly attractive. The bike somewhat resembles the classic Samurai as this is a nimble and compact bike like the old one.

The Suzuki Samurai 150 comes with a halogen setup at the front and the rear. This means the headlight is a halogen and so is the taillight. The headlight is expected to be good enough for the city commute, however, it might be a whole different story for the highway. The taillight is okay for being noticed. The indicators are LED but are not very minimalistic.

The Suzuki Samurai 150 also comes with a luggage rack and a butterfly crash guard as stock. The luggage rack is quite big, which is very handy for this bike, and the crash guard will be a protection for the legs of the rider.

Physical Attributes:

As previously mentioned, the Suzuki Samurai 150 comes with a compact body, which is intended to make it simple to squeeze through traffic. The bike comes with a weight of 133kg, which is quite less when it comes to bikes of the 150cc segment. This bike comes with a 12.5liter fuel capacity, so the long rides out of town will not be a problem, and short detours out of the urban jungle will be done with no worries.

The length, width, and height of the Suzuki Samurai 150 are 2055mm, 750mm, and 1075mm. It also has a low saddle-height 765mm; however, the saddle is quite wide, which may cause problems for riders under 5’2” in the heavy traffic. The bike also has a fairly average wheelbase of 1310mm, so balancing this bike is not expected to be much of a problem at the corners.

Engine and Transmission:

The Suzuki Samurai 150 comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 149.5cc engine. The engine is air-cooled. The bike comes with both an electrical self-start mechanism and a kick-start mechanism. The engine provides 11BHP of power at 8000rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 5500rpm. The bike is expected to have a fuel economy of around 45kmpl.

The Suzuki Samurai 150 comes with a wet multi-plate clutch system. There is a 5-speed gearbox on this bike. The bike is expected to be very smooth with its acceleration on the road. The bike can be expected to reach around 120kmph at most.

Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:

The Suzuki Samurai 150 comes with a disc-drum setup. The front wheel has a disc brake which is quite good. It comes with a drum brake at the rear wheel, which is quite common when it comes to commuter bikes. The front disc is expected to perform averagely. The rear is expected to perform like every other drum brakes.

The Suzuki Samurai 150 has regular telescopic forks, and spring-loaded twin shocks at the front, and rear respectively. The front telescopic fork suspension is expected to have a decent response like most telescopic suspensions have. The rear is maybe quite comfortable for the pillions but is not made for support while cornering.

The Suzuki Samurai 150 also comes with alloy wheels and tubeless tires. The front tire is 2.75/16, which is expected to perform decently on the road. The rear tire is 90/90, which is thin to increase the fuel efficiency of the motorcycle.

Target Audience:

The Suzuki Samurai 150 is an average bike. It doesn’t have any secrets or new technology that may overwhelm any rider. This bike is intended for beginner and intermediate riders. The Suzuki Samurai 150 will also attract many people from Bangladesh who are looking to buy a commuter bike of good quality. It will also attract people who are looking to find a bit of classic with a modern touch.

Availability: Available at all Suzuki Dealerships around Bangladesh.

Competitors:

There are quite a few bikes in the 150cc commuter segment, hence the competition of the Suzuki Samurai 150 is quite a lot.

  1. Hero Hunk.
  2. Runner Knight Rider V2.
  3. Bajaj Pulsar 150 series.
  4. Keeway RKS.

The Suzuki Samurai 150 is a well-built and well-designed bike. It has quite a few pros and cons, but the pros are more than the cons. The Suzuki Samurai 150 ticks most of the boxes for most people looking for a good commuter bike.
