Benelli 165S Review
PROS
Very responsive engine. Unique design. Good braking with CBS. Very luminous headlight.
CONS
Exhaust design looks horrible. Small pillion seat. Harsh engine node. Fuel sensitive. Short wheelbase as a sportbike.
VERDICT
When we talk about Pasta and Pizza, we think of Italian. But since the early 1900s, the Italians also started making good looking bikes. And just like a good plate of well-cooked spaghetti, Benelli presented the Benelli 165S to the public. The Benelli 165S is a 164.7cc naked sportbike.
The Benelli Q.J introduced the Benelli 165S at the 5th Dhaka Bike Show through Aftab Automobiles. The Benelli 165S was designed by Benelli, in Italy. The bike since then has attracted a lot of the Bangladeshi youth through its beautiful design and attractive looks. The bike is not only good-looking, but it is also filled with quality and technology.

Key Features:

The Benelli 165S gets a fully digital dashboard. The dashboard consists of a speedometer, rpm counter, and all the necessities. The dashboard as addition gets a gear position indicator, a clock, and multiple other information. The switch lights are also added beside the digital LCD screen.
The special feature of the Benelli 165S is the spark plug set up. The bike gets three spark plugs. The triple spark plug setup ensures proper fuel ignition and fuel combustion. The triple spark plug setup is a big plus point to the Benelli 165S because improper gas emission from automobiles is causing enough problems throughout the country.
The Benelli 165S comes with an LED setup. The headlight being has an LED setup which is very bright and projects quite suitably for night rides. The headlight also comes with a DRL, which looks gorgeous.
The Benelli 165S comes in 4 colors. They are:
- Black.
- White.
- Neon Green.
- Red.
The bike has very few decals, and the decals are nearly unnoticeable. The main attraction of the bike is the edges and curves of the bike. The bike looks very aggressive, it inspires confidence.
Physical Attributes:
The Benelli 165S is a fairly tall bike to sit on, with a saddle height of 810mm. The bike is perfect for a person of 5’7”. The bike is otherwise shorter in overall height, with a height of 1070mm without the mirrors. The bike is rather thin generally, with an overall width of 780mm, so you know escaping through the traffic will be easy.
The length and weight of the Benelli 165S are 2030mm, and 147kg respectively. As you can see that the bike is on the heavier side. The heavyweight can cause a bit of difficulty to fairly new riders. The bike also has an average wheelbase.
Engine and Transmission:
The Benelli 165S comes with a new age EFI engine. The engine is a 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine. It has liquid cooling. The engine also has a triple spark plug setup, which ensures proper fuel ignition and combustion. The engine gives out 17.84BHP of power at 9500rpm, and 14Nm of torque at 7000rpm. BikeBD test ride revealed that the bike gives a mileage of around 32-35kmpl in the city and 38kmpl on the highway.
The bike comes with a regular wet multi-plate clutch. But the bike also comes with a 6-speed gearbox with the power being delivered even on the 6th gear. During the BikeBD test ride, the max speed of the bike was found to be 135kmph.
Brakes, Suspension, and Wheels:
The Benelli 165S comes with a dual-disc setup. The front wheel has a 260mm disc, which induces confidence to riders. Although, during the BikeBD test ride, it was seen that the bike moves very minutely to the right when using the front brake, which maybe because of the left side disc set up. The rear brake has a 220mm disc, which is also very good for high-speed braking. The Benelli 165S also comes with CBS, which will increase the braking performance during high-speed braking.
The Benelli 165S has telescopic forks at the front as suspension. The forks are quite helpful during cornering and also fairly responsive on bumpy roads. The bike has a mono-shock at the rear. The mono-shock will be a bit stiff before the first maintenance of the bike.
The Benelli 165S comes with alloy wheels. The front tire is 100/80 and the rear tire is 130/70. The rear tire would have been better if it was 140, considering the power figure of the bike. The riders will not feel very comfortable during high-speed cornering.
Target Audience:
The Benelli 165S comes with a design that is oozing with futuristic vibes. The bike has very high power and very good looks. This is a perfect bike for a young biker who is looking for a bike that looks futuristic and has good performance. The bike may not be the best for beginners.
Competitors:
The Benelli 165S may be a great bike, but it has some serious competitors as well.
- Pulsar NS160.
- Gixxer 155.
- Hornet 160r.
- TVS Apache RTR 4V.
All in all, the Benelli 165S is a fantastic bike. Of course, it has its flaws. But which bike doesn’t? Benelli has kept up with its quality image and has created a masterpiece. The Benelli 165S is a head-turner.
