You know sports motorcycles are a distinct category of motorcycles that are made for speed and acceleration hence riding sports bikes is the fun that young riders love most. Relatively sports motorcycles feature some distinctive features unlike the regular category of motorcycles and for this reason, sports motorcycles have naked drive chains. So why do sports motorcycles feature naked chains and what are the reasons here we have a brief on that; let’s join in.

Why Do Sports Motorcycles Feature Naked Chains?

Sports motorcycles are a kind of motorcycle that is somewhat a shadow of track racing motorcycles which features faster acceleration, top speed, and the fun of riding on paved surfaces. Thus, like many other idiosyncratic characteristics sports motorcycles come with unique features and so sports motorcycles come with naked chains without any covers. Hence of course there have some reasons behind it and here we have a summary of that.

At first, whether it is the naked sport, fully faired, or adventure category of motorcycles, sports motorcycles are made for speedy and powerful rides. Therefore, sports motorcycles run faster, derive more power to the rear wheel, and thus sports motorcycles' drive chain rotates faster. Consequently to avoid accidental and uneven issues manufacturers never feature any chain cover on their sport motorcycles and those come with naked chain drives attached to rear wheels.

Secondly, the most significant reason is easy and frequent maintenance of the chain drive of the motorcycles. For that reason, sports motorcycles come with naked chain drive perhaps capped with a tiny baffle on the top of the chain. It helps for easy inspection of the chain drive, perfect alignment, cleaning, and lubing the chain drive properly even before everyday rides.

Thirdly, sports motorcycles are way more powerful motorcycles that require reinforced and extra strong characteristics in the body parts and sensitive fast-moving parts like chain drives. And in this corner, if any manufacturer tries to feature any chain cover that should be made with heavy metal elements that surely will gain much weight and charge manufacturing cost more. Hence also for those reasons manufacturers never feature any chain cover in their sports motorcycles.

Excluding drive chain covers in sports motorcycles also benefits the noise-free operation of the chain drive. Not featuring any chain cover omits the possibility of further collision of the chain drive with the chain cover. Thus the entire drive setup remains simple, and free, and avoids unnecessary complexities. Further, it also looks cool and nicely matches with the exclusive design of the sports motorcycles. So you can understand why do sports motorcycles feature naked chains.
