VERDICT
Lifan KPR 165R EFI Overview
Lifan, a Chinese Motorcycle manufacturer, has flabbergasted the Bangladeshi bikers and the bike market with their affordable commuter and sportbikes. The sportbike market, before Lifan, was limited to Japanese sportbikes and some cheaply constructed Chinese bikes. But after the introduction of Lifan, the bike market changed and the demand for affordable sport bikes increased exponentially.
Rasel Industries first introduced the Lifan KPR 150 way back in 2015. After earning extreme success and respect in the biking community, Rasel Industries introduced Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) in 2018. The Lifan KPR 165R has since earned its spot among the 150 cc to 165 cc range as a strong contender.

Lifan KPR 165R EFI Key Features:
The Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) may look visually similar to the Lifan KPR 150, but it comes with a completely new engine. The engine comes with totally new power and torque figures. The engine is also EFI, which is an upgrade from the Carburetor in Lifan KPR 150.

The Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) comes with a full LED setup. It has a projected LED headlight. The high beam is so good that you can see the road clear till China. The indicators and rear lights are also LED. These make sure that the lights don’t drain/stress the battery as much as a Halogen light would, and also ensures good visibility during night rides.
The Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) looks very muscular and very strong. With the sporty look and sharp edges, you might also mistake it for some high specs bike. The bike comes with sporty graphics as well. The bike comes in a sleek toned-down glossy color, which simultaneously gives it a retro look. But the disappointing aspect of the bike is that it comes in a plastic body.
Lifan KPR 165R EFI is available in 3 colors:
Red
Green
Blue
All the colors above are fused with Black to give sleek designs as well.
Physical Attributes:
The Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) is shorter than the average bike, with a seat height of only 775 mm. That ensures the fact that a lot of fairly short riders will be comfortable and confident to ride it.
But a short bike also means a low bike. The ground clearance of this bike is a mere 165 mm. Now that won’t drag the bottom of the bike, but it will scratch the bottom over every speed bump in the city.
The height, length, width, and weight of the Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) are 760 mm, 2060 mm, 105 mm, and 150 kg respectively. The bike is a bit on the heavier side when compared to its competitors, but that is so that it can stay stable at high-speed maneuvers. The bike has an average wheelbase, which means it will be a well-balanced bike.
Engine and Transmission:
The Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) comes with an EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) engine. This means it has an internal ECU (Electronic Control Unit) that controls the exact amount of fuel the engine needs. This system leads to better fuel efficiency.
The bike comes with 4-stroke, single-cylinder, 165 cc, and is liquid-cooled. The engine produces 16.8 BHP of power at 8000 rpm, and 17 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. The power and torque figures are quite mediocre in the sportbike segment but quite exceptional in the commuter segment.
The Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) comes with a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. But what is exciting is the 6-speed gearbox. The 6-speed gearbox ensures that this is a performance-oriented bike. During the Bike BD test ride, it was seen that the bike had a stiff shifter.
Brakes, Suspension, and Wheels:
The Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) comes with dual disc brakes. The front being 300 mm, which is bigger than the regular disc brake. This huge disc up front pretty much ensures safe and early stops during emergency braking situations. The bike sadly does not come with either ABS or CBS, and that is a total bummer.
The Lifan KPR 165R (EFI) has regular telescopic forks in the front and a mono-shock in the back. While the front forks do respond well during cornering or while going over a bump, the rear mono-shock does not perform up to the mark, alone or with a pillion.
The wheels are the biggest turn off of the Lifan KPR 165R (EFI). It comes with a 90/90 and 120/80 tire setup. Being a 165 cc bike and having that tire setup is an absolute shame. The cornering is okay, but not justified considering the power and torque figure.
Rolling the throttle open mid-turn to stand back up is scarier on this bike. The braking performance is also brought down by the tires as the rear tire is highly prone to skids during sudden brakes. The rear tire also spins out at quick launches due to the torque.
Best For:
If you are looking for a fair sportbike with average specs but have a small budget, then this might be your bike. There may be better options in the market, but there are very few sportbikes with an EFI engine at this price range. The power and torque figure also play a huge role in selecting this bike.
Of course, there are drawbacks to this bike as well, some avoidable and some not. But at the end of the day this is a good bike. If you are willing to give up on some performance due to a tight budget, then this bike is one of the options.
Competitors:
This bike has some notable competition.
Suzuki Gixxer SF
Tvs Apache RTR 160 4v
Keeway RKR 165
Benelli 165s
In conclusion, it can be said that theLifan KPR 165R (EFI) could have been one of the best bikes in its segment, but due to certain mistakes and certain wrong decisions, the bike ended up being just another Chinese sports bike.
