VERDICT
In Bangladesh, sport commuters are mostly targeted towards youngsters and the people who want a bike that is stylish and ergonomically comfortable. On the other hand, regular commuters are targeted towards people who solely want a bike to commute, and the people who want a good bike with good fuel economy. However, here we will discuss a bike that has the looks of a sports commuter and the ergonomics of a regular commuter. We will discuss the Aprilia FX 150.
Aprilia is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer that was founded right after the second world war. Their first ever two-wheeler was a bicycle, after which they went on to make scooters and low capacity motorcycles. Later they went on to build higher capacity motorcycles such as the 1000cc RSV Mille, and the RSV4. However, due to the cubic capacity limitation, we only get bikes that are below 165cc. Runner Bangladesh brought the Aprilia FX 150 to Bangladesh.

Key Features:
The Aprilia FX 150 is a commuter that looks amazing. The bike comes in a very compact body but looks very big due to the aesthetics of the bike. The bike also comes with a very upright seat with upright handlebars. The FX 150 has a stock engine cowl and an extended windshield at the front. It also has an elevated pillion seat, and air scoops at the side of the tank which adds to the sporty look of the bike.
The Aprilia FX 150 comes in three colors. They are:
- Black.
- Red.
- White.
The decals of the Black and the Red version are very similar to each other, whereas the white version has a very different and unique set of decals.
The Aprilia FX 150 comes with a very informative instrument cluster. The instrument cluster is a semi-digital cluster. It consists of a speedometer, an RPM counter (Analog), an odometer, a trip meter, a gear position indicator, a fuel gauge, and other necessary indicators. The gear position indicator will be very useful for a new rider.
Physical Attributes:
The Aprilia FX 150 comes with a very nimble body. The seat height of the bike is kept low to allow riders of 5’3” to seat easily. The bike also has an average ground clearance of around 165mm, which is good but it might hit some of the tall speed bumps. The bike also has a huge fuel capacity of 18liters, which is good for long rides or long tours.
The length, width, and height of the Aprilia FX 150 are 2030mm, 760mm, and 1050mm respectively. The bike has an upright handlebar. The bike is expected to be quite lightweight as all commuters are. The bike has a fairly average wheelbase of 1340mm, which allows the bike to be quite stable at corners. The tank of the bike is quite thin which allows the legs to grip onto the tank.
Engine and Transmission:
The Aprilia FX 150 comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 148cc air-cooled engine. There are both self and kick-start of the bike. The engine pumps out a maximum of 10.46BHP of power at 8000rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 5500rpm. The low torque and power kicking in quite late in this bike make it rather fuel-efficient. Although it is a carburetor engine, it is expected to consume a liter of fuel every 40km.
The Aprilia FX 150 comes with a basic wet, multi-plate clutch. The bike also has a 5-speed gearbox, which has a linear power delivery to the engine. The bike is expected to have a top speed of around 110kmph.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Aprilia FX 150 comes with a disc-drum setup. The front has a disc, while the rear has a drum. The front brakes work well, as it is a 24mm disc. The rear has a 130mm drum brake which is okay and is expected to perform as a basic drum. The rear brake could have been much better with a disc, as that would have increased the braking performance of the bike significantly.
The Aprilia FX 150 comes with telescopic forks at the front as suspension. The front suspension works well on bumpy roads. The rear suspensions are two hydraulic spring-loaded shock absorbers. The rear suspension provides good comfort to the pillion and will also be able to absorb most of the bumps during the city commute.
The Aprilia FX 150 comes with alloy wheels. The front and rear wheels have 90/90 and 110/80 section tires. The rear tire being a bit thin, the bike may skid during emergency braking situations. The tire would have been better if it was 130/80 or even 120/80.
Target Audience:
The Aprilia FX 150 was made for the rider who is looking for a commuter but also wants a stylish bike. This bike will attract riders from all walks of life, as this bike has good riding quality combined with good ergonomics. This a great option for the regular commuter. This bike is also suitable for beginners who are looking for a bike to learn in.
Competitors:
The Aprilia FX 150 has a few competitors and they are capable of giving this bike a run for its money.
- Bajaj Pulsar 150 series.
- Apache RTR 150 series.
- Benelli TNT 150.
- Keeway RKS 150.
The Aprilia FX 150 is a commuter bike that looks nothing less than a sports commuter bike. It does have its flaws, but which bike does not? Hence, the Aprilia FX 150 is a commendable motorcycle with commendable.
