Chinese bikes are becoming more and more reliable as time passes. Chinese brands are making their mark in the motorcycle industry more and more by the day. People are now readily accepting Chinese motorcycles, and the myth of Chinese products being weak/of low quality is being busted every day. Lifan is one of the renowned Chinese motorcycle manufacturers. Lifan KPS has also made a mark for itself as one of the well-known commuting bikes.
Lifan reached the Bangladeshi consumer through the hands of Rasel Industries Ltd. It released the Lifan KPS 150 as a naked version of the Lifan KPR 150. The Lifan KPS 150 was an attempt to retribution, as Lifan had tried to fix most of the problems that were in the Lifan KPR 150, but Lifan also tried to release this as a completely new bike with completely new features.
Lifan KPS 150 Key Features:
The Lifan KPS 150 comes with a highly informative instrument cluster. The instrument cluster includes everything a biker needs and more. It contains basic information, such as speed, RPM, fuel gauge, and everything else. It also includes a gear position indicator and a clock, which are both very useful for most riders. The instrument cluster also has a button that allows it to change the color of the backlight of the cluster. It comes with about seven different colors including, green, purple, yellow, and more.
The Lifan KPS 150 also comes with a fat rear tire. Many consumers complained about the 120-section rear tire in the Lifan KPR 150, and the disadvantages it caused. Hence, Lifan listened to its consumers and fixed the problem. The Lifan KPS 150 comes with a fat 130 section rear tire.
The Lifan KPS 150 also comes with Upside down (USD) suspension. It is one of the few bikes in Bangladesh that comes with a USD suspension. It is also a way to make up for the missing USD in the Lifan KPR 150.
The Lifan KPS 150 also gets a full LED treatment. The headlight of the bike is a projection LED headlight setup. The other lights of the bike are also LED. The taillight, which looks very much similar to the Lifan KPR 150, is also LED.
The Lifan KPS 150 comes in two colors.
The white bike comes with red decals, while the red bike comes with white decals.
The Lifan KPS 150 has an average height of 775mm, which is suitable for most people shorter than 5’8”. People above that height might have difficulty while sitting. Regardless of the short seat height, the bike has a good ground clearance of 165mm. The bike also has a large fuel tank of 14liters, which will be extremely helpful during long rides out of town.
The length, width, height, and weight of the Lifan KPS 150 are 2100mm, 790mm, 1280mm, and 145Kg. As you can see, the bike is on the heavier side. The weight may cause fatigue to the rider in heavy traffic. The bike is not very compact, as it is quite thick, but it does have an average wheelbase of 1360mm, which may be more than the other 150cc bikes, but is still very suitable.
Engine and Transmission:
The Lifan KPS 150 has a 4-stroke, single-cylinder, and 150cc engine. It is carbureted just like its predecessor. Regardless of the engine being similar to that of the Lifan KPR 150, the new Lifan KPS 150 has been down-tuned to make the power more commuter-friendly. The engine produces 14.8BHP of power at 8500rpm, and 14.8NM of torque at 6500rpm. This down-tune will improve the efficiency of the bike. The bike has a mileage of around 40-45kmpl.
The Lifan KPS 150 comes with a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. The bike also comes with a 6-speed gearbox, which ensures cruising at higher speeds on the highway. The top speed of the Lifan KPS 150 is expected to be around 122kmph.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Lifan KPS 150 comes with a full disc braking system. The front-wheel gets a 300mm disc brake, which is considered as one of the largest disc brakes in the country. The rear brake is also disc, which increases the braking power of the bike significantly.
The suspension of the bike is a whole new chapter. The front gets telescopic forks as the suspension and the rear gets a mono-shock suspension. The front being USD suspension might cause difficulty to the city rider, as the city has many potholes and damaged roads. The rear suspension is expected to be more forgiving while passing the bumps.
The Lifan KPS 150 gets a new wheel setup. The rear wheel of the bike now has a 130/70-section rear tire, which will increase the cornering ability of the bike significantly. The bike also has a 100/80-section front tire, which will make it better in the corners and on the rough roads of the city.
The Lifan KPS 150 was made for the new generation. As the newer generations are becoming more understanding, a simple, yet aggressive bike would appeal to them. A student or a fresh graduate will find this bike to be very enjoyable. The bike is suitable for a few trips out of the city now and then but is not the best for everyday tours.
