Hi! I’m Arafat Tanvir. I live in Chittagong, Satkania. A businessman by profession. Today I am going to share my riding experience about my 24,000 km TVS Apache RTR 160 4V bike.
The bike is an emotion to me, I don’t say it is a vehicle! it’s my emotion. There are so many stories in my life about these bikes and biking that can’t be finished.
I started a bike ride with Bajaj Discover 135cc from school life when I read in class 8th. Let’s change different bikes one by one, after all, now is the year 2020. I am currently using the TVS Apache RTR 160 4v (Black) bike.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4v bike came on the market recently and I am currently using this bike with 4 valve engine. The age of the bike is 1 year and 2 months. So in light of my short experience, I will discuss some of the good and bad aspects with you.
Reasons to buy TVS Apache RTR 160 4v bike:
I’m always a fan of the TVS Apache RTR series. I see the details of this bike on YouTube all the time before it officially came to Bangladesh. I always saw user reviews about the looks, performance, comfort of the bike. I felt pretty good and fell in love.
I was waiting, when it would come to the country. Officially coming to the country, and I also took it. Alhamdulillah, I have ridden 24,000 kilometers since then.
The most interesting thing is that I am a biker, I have traveled around 61 districts of Bangladesh with this TVS Apache RTR 160 4v. I am finishing Tetulia from Teknaf (TT) with this bike. Alhamdulillah, it did not disappoint me in any way. The bike has performed the way I wanted it to.
The design of this bike seemed the best to me in terms of design. I like the design of everything from front tires to headlamps, LED tail lamps, color combinations, fuel tanks, etc.
In the seating position, I feel a lot like a Yamaha FZ-S bike. Because the combination of seating position and handlebars is great. Other 150cc or 160cc bikes show that the rear seat is slightly higher but the RTR 4v bike’s Pillion seating position height is perfect.
The headlamp light at night though or a little less, but best for the city. However, I am using a separate fog light (A7) for the highway. And if two parking lights are on, it looks very beautiful from a distance.
Let’s talk about TVS Apache RTR 160 4v engine:
I did not get any kind of vibration at 6 thousand rpm. Since I maintained the break-in period very well and still do everything I have to do to maintain the bike as per the rules. Alhamdulillah, I am getting very good performance.
I have ridden the previous RTR but I have not got any kind of vibration in this new 4V technology engine so far. The throttle response is surprising. The exhaust sound is serious and this sound gives me a different feeling towards the engine of the bike and I feel like I keep driving all day.
The mono-shock suspension feels much better than some of the bikes I ride. The suspension of the Hornet, Pulsar NS bike is relatively stiffer than the 4V. I got the most comfort and smooth performance from the Apache 4V in terms of comfort and suspension on broken roads.
The tire grip is much better. Especially what I like most is the tire size. The size of the tire is not too thick or thin. I think it is the perfect tire for the roads of Bangladesh (running 24000 km is still in stock).
I got a much better feeling from the previous Apache RTR by cornering. Braking is very good. I have seen on the meter console that ABS is written, but I get good support almost every time I brake the engine.
I braked hard just to check its braking and balance, I felt like I got this bike by braking hard, I think if it was the previous Apache, I would have fallen there with the bike. Very good support is available as usual when braking.
I used Motul Engine Oil regularly from the beginning. I gave minerals in the first 5 thousand kilometers. Then 10w30 per 2000 km. I got a very good performance with Motul.
There are currently 5 free services, including one paid. I have so many different experiences with the company’s free service. However, the service is quite good, not so bad. Nothing has been done to modify the bike yet everything is in stock.
Some good aspects of the bike:
- The look is awesome
- Powerful engine
- Tank cap design which is uncommon
- Exhaust sound
- Riding Comfort & Confidence
Some bad aspects of the bike:
- Stock tire size, TVS could give better quality tires.
- Missing gear indicator.
- The weaker the braking performance, the higher tendency of the tire skid.
- Mileage problem.
- The wiring system could have been improved if desired.
I got the highest top speed of 133 km/h. Although more or less is available, I did not try. I try to stay within the limits all the time. Mileage I now get is an average of 35 kilometers per liter. Many are getting a lot, some more and some less. I am getting 35 km mileage of this powerful engine, Alhamdulillah.
As for the current price, I think that the price is right considering all the features and performance. In the context of the local market in Bangladesh, the price is quite right. It is the best bikes in this budget at the best price.
All the things that could be done better on the bike-
- The looking glass has been kept the same as the previous RTR for which the look has been slightly reduced.
- The saree guard did not give. I think it would have been better.
- It would be nice if the handlebars could be rotated a little more. The handles of other bikes turn perfectly but this bike turns a little less than other bikes.
This was my personal opinion about the TVS Apache RTR 160 4v. Taking care of the rider depends on how well his bike will perform. I always try to take care of the bike. Lastly, always wear a helmet, use a good quality safety guard. Ride with speed control. Avoid overconfidence while riding. Happy biking. Thanks.
