Yamaha Vixion was a dream project by Yamaha. Yamaha wished to bring a solid bike that was the naked version of the Yamaha R15. However, the Vixion got lost in the crowd. The Vixxion is a great bike for the Bangladeshi city commute and for speed lovers. The naked sports bike segment is a big thing in Bangladesh, as most young people prefer nimble machines that can rip through traffic and also tear through the highways.
Yamaha is one of the biggest motorcycle manufacturers in the world. It is considered as one of the Japanese giants. Over the years, Yamaha has successfully conquered most of the categories. They have the mighty Yamaha R1 in the sports bike category, the legendary MT09 in the naked sports category, and the Yamaha R15 in the pocket rocket category for the young racers out there.
We currently have some Yamaha Vixion Advances in Bangladesh. These are 2015 editions. The Yamaha Vixion which is identical to the Yamaha R15 V2 is a new bike with a modified engine and design. Although we are certain that ACI Motors Ltd will not bring the motorcycle to Bangladesh, some importers may be interested.
One is the regular edition, with cosmetic upgrades and another made a naked sports bike. The base model has the 150cc water-cooled motor and will produce 16.2BHP and 14.5NM of torque. The crankcase for the engine is brand new. It has a 5-speed gearbox and a 120mm rear section tire. The bike comes with a standard delta box frame, sports swingarm, and Kickstarter. The dashboard ignition is now used instead of the fuel tank.
Speedometer is an old Yamaha R15 V2 model with a digital LCD display that displays information like speedometer, tachometer, indicator gear, shift indicator. It also has trip meter A and trip meter B as well as fuel consumption L / 100 km and average fuel consumption, average speed, and clock. The switchgear now has an additional hazard indicator button.
The best thing about the Yamaha Vixion is the fact that it is the naked version of the Yamaha R15. They have made sure that you get the Yamaha R15 feel when you swing a leg over the Vixion. The instrument cluster is the same one used in the R15. It still contains a gear position indicator and everything the R15 gets.
The Yamaha Vixion comes in four colors and a special edition.
All the bikes come with very clean looks which make them look very good, except for the Movistar edition which was designed according to the MotoGP Yamaha Factory team.
The Yamaha Vixion comes with a full LED setup. The setup is a single-unit assembly. This makes the bike look quite good. The taillight is also LED, which makes it quite visible. The indicators are bulb indicators. The Yamaha Vixion may be a sports bike, but it also has great fuel efficiency. The powerful engine has a fuel efficiency of about 40-45kmpl. Which is great for the long haul.
The Yamaha Vixion is an averagely tall bike to sit on, with a saddle height of 795mm. The bike is perfect for a person of 5’5”. The bike is otherwise shorter in overall height, with a height of 1025mm without the mirrors. The bike is rather thin generally, with an overall width of 725mm (less width of the handlebars), so you know escaping through the traffic will be easy. The bike has an 11liters tank, which is great for the long ride out of town.
The length and weight of the Yamaha Vixion are 1955mm, and 132kg respectively. As you can see that the bike is on the lighter side. The lightweight makes the bike very suitable for flicking from one side to another. The wheelbase of the bike is 1295, which is a bit short and makes it nimble, but it brings a question about stability at the corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The Yamaha Vixion comes with a new age FI engine. The engine is a 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine. It has liquid cooling. The engine gives out 16.36BHP of power at 8500rpm and 14.5Nm of torque at 7500rpm. The engine is very refined, coupled with fuel injection, which is expected to put the average mileage of this bike above basic commuter bikes. The mileage of this bike is expected to be around 40-45kmpl.
The Yamaha Vixion comes with a regular wet multi-plate clutch. But the bike also comes with a 5-speed gearbox. The top speed of this bike is expected to be around 120kmph (not suggested to test on open roads).
Brakes, Suspension, and Wheels:
The Yamaha Vixion comes with a dual-disc setup. The front wheel has a disc, which induces confidence in riders. The front brake is an axially mounted dual caliper disc brake. The rear brake is a standard disc brake. The shame of this bike is that it doesn’t have any CBS or ABS. The front brakes are expected to work quite well.
The Yamaha Vixion has telescopic forks at the front as suspension. The forks are quite helpful during cornering and also fairly responsive on bumpy roads. The bike has a mono-shock at the rear. The mono-shock will be expected to give good support during cornering.
The Yamaha Vixion comes with alloy wheels. The front tire is 90/80 and the rear tire is 120/70. The rear tire would have been better if it was 130, considering the power figure of the bike. The riders will not feel very comfortable during high-speed cornering, or while braking.
The Yamaha Vixion comes with a design that looks like the thin kid in class. However, it is designed well. It looks quite good when looked at from a distance. The bike will be great for intermediate young riders, who are thinking of upgrading to a more powerful engine. This bike is not at all suggested for beginner riders, as it may overwhelm them.
The Yamaha Vixion may be a great bike, but it has some serious competitors as well.
Suzuki GSX-S150 (Unofficial).
All in all, the Yamaha Vixion is a fantastic bike. Of course, it has its flaws. But which bike doesn’t? Yamaha has kept up with its quality image and has created a masterpiece. The Yamaha Vixion may not be a head-turner, but it definitely will astonish people with its features and specifications.
