TVS XL100 i-Touch overview:
Carrier scooters are very common to the Bangladeshi people. This is because we Bengalis carry everything on our bikes, starting from grocery to carrying bikes, we carry everything. One of the most common carrier scooters is the TVS XL100. After the TVS XL100 received recognition, TVS went on to make an update of the scooter and brought the TVS XL100 i-Touch.
TVS, an Indian motorcycle manufacturer, has been making two-wheelers since 1980. They started by making a moped and has now become one of the top motorcycle manufacturers of South Asia. TVS have also collaborated with BMW Motorrad to make BMW bikes in India. TVS has many famous commuting bikes. Their well-known commuting carrier scooter is the TVS XL100 i-Touch.
The TVS XL100 i-Touch is a simple carrier scooter. It has been made to stand heavy duty carrying. Hence this scooter is quite common among delivery men. The scooter has a wide single seat. The scooter also has a large space at the front to hold additional baggage. The scooter also with a small luggage rack at the rear, which is not enough but is notable.
The TVS XL100 i-Touch comes with a very simple instrument cluster. The instrument cluster has a speedometer, an odometer, a fuel gauge, and other necessary indicators. Unnecessary information has been removed to provide space for both a key insert and a USB output.
The TVS XL100 i-Touch comes in four colors. They are:
All the above colors come with sporty decals and brandings.
As previously mentioned, the TVS XL100 i-Touch comes with a compact body, which is intended to make it simple to squeeze through traffic. The scooter comes with a weight of 89kg, which is quite less when it comes to scooters. This scooter comes with a 4liter fuel capacity, so the long rides out of town will be a problem, but short detours out of the urban jungle will not be much of a problem.
The length, width, and height of the TVS XL100 i-Touch are not listed but can be expected to be lower than the average scooter. It also has a low saddle-height; however, the saddle is quite wide, which may cause problems for riders under 5’2” in the heavy traffic. The scooter also has a fairly small wheelbase, of 1215, so balancing this scooter might be a bit of a problem at corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The TVS XL100 i-Touch comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 99.7cc engine. The engine is air-cooled. The scooter comes with both an electrical self-start mechanism and a kick-start mechanism. The engine provides 4.4BHP of power at 6000rpm and 6.5Nm of torque at 3000rpm. The scooter may not be the best when it comes to fuel efficiency but is expected to have an average mileage of around 55-60kmpl.
The TVS XL100 i-Touch comes with a fully automatic transmission system. There is no gear shifting involved while riding this scooter. Although the scooter is expected to be very smooth with its acceleration on the road. The scooter can be expected to reach around 70kmph at most.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The TVS XL100 i-Touch comes with a full drum setup. The front wheel has a drum brake which is quite disappointing. It comes with a drum brake at the rear wheel, which is quite common when it comes to scooters. If it had a front disc, the braking of the scooter would have been at the top among scooters of this section.
The TVS XL100 i-Touch has regular telescopic forks, and spring-loaded twin shocks at the front, and rear respectively. The front telescopic fork suspension is expected to have a decent response like most telescopic suspensions have. But since it is a scooter, the travel of the telescopic forks may not be as good as a motorcycle, and hence may the scooter might be vulnerable to potholes in the city. The rear spring-loaded “hydraulic” suspension may provide an adequate response in the city and highway.
The TVS XL100 i-Touch also comes with alloy wheels and tubeless tires. The front tire is 2.5/16, which is expected to perform decently on the road. The rear tire is 2.5/16, which may not perform the best during high-speed braking or high-speed cornering as it is quite thin.
The TVS XL100 i-Touch is an average scooter. It has enough tricks up its sleeves to overwhelm a beginner rider. This scooter is intended for intermediate and veteran riders. The TVS XL100 i-Touch will also attract many youths of Bangladesh, due to its design and features.
There are very few scooters in the 100-110cc region, hence the competition of the TVS Radeon is quite less.
- Znen Jog.
