For some people biking is a luxury, for some it is a passion, and for some, it is a need. For an average person, who wishes to buy a motorcycle for the convenience of commuting, a sportbike that costs 3 lacs is too much. Even a bike of 1.5 lac is too much for that person. And for that person, the Roadmaster Velocity was made.
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 is a 99.71 cc commuter bike. This bike was made to be a cost-friendly bike that an average middle-class person can buy. Roadmasters tried their best to do the bike justice.
Roadmaster Velocity 100cc – New Commuter on The Road
Roadmaster Velocity comes as a brand-new 100cc commuting bike from Roadmaster. The new model looks athletic and comes with thrilling features. It has the 99.71cc single-cylinder, 2-valve vertical engine that is CDI powered by the carburetor.
This engine is a commuter that produces 8.5 BHP & 7.5 NM of Torque. It is an all-four-speed gearbox that has smaller ratios of gears that is standard and suitable for daily commutes. The motor of the bike is quiet until 4500rpm. After that, the engine begins to vibrate slightly.
Roadmaster Velocity 100 – Appearance
The design of the motorcycle is elegant it is unusual to see on a commuting bike of 100cc. Along with the large headlight, the bike comes with an enormous fuel tank of 14 liters that includes air-scoop panels on the ends that are attached to the tank. The air scoops are mounted on the tank and have integrated indicators.
The handlebar on the bike is straight and has a good turning radius, which means that the bike can be used in traffic that is enough of a problem. A speedometer is a completely digital device that includes a complete digital rev counter and speedometer. It also has a fuel gauge and clock. You can also alter the color of the background display of the speedometer.
The switch gears on the bike have all the switches that are standard, however, unlike other 100cc bikes in the segment, this comes with a pass light and an ignition kill switch. The bike has a self-starter and kick.
I believe that by adding everything, it would have been better to add tubeless tires on the bike which is an ideal choice. The finish and color are adequate, however, I’m not going to say it’s the best. Also, I would like to mention that the quality of the switch gears had to be improved in order to keep up with the quality of the paint on the bike.
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 comes with a fully digital speedometer/odometer. The speedometer shows all the regular properties and more. It shows a gear indicator, which is quite important for amateur riders.
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 was designed to look good. Even though it is a small bike, it looks exceptionally good. It has jetted indicators, which are attached to the air scoops on the two sides of the tank. Those air scoops are also extended downwards to look sport, and they do the job well. The bike also has a big exhaust design. The exhaust makes the bike look more muscular.
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 gets a 7-layer silica-coated paint job. This makes the bike look extremely sleek and glossy. Apart from being glossy it also looks fairly sporty. The Roadmaster Velocity comes in three colors:
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 is fairly low when you throw a leg over it. People around 5’2” can also swing a leg over it and ride off. The bike comes in a thin body. And the thin body allows the bike to be held tightly when riding or cornering. It also has a fairly short wheelbase, which does bring a question of balance during rides.
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 has a height, width, length, and weight of 1270mm, 840mm, 2090mm, and 120kg. As you can see the bike is very light. And a lightweight bike means that you can flick the bike very easily and swiftly.
Engine and Transmission
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 comes with a Euro 2 classified engine. This means that the bike is somewhat efficient and environmentally friendly. The Roadmaster Velocity has a 4-stroke, single-cylinder, 2-valves, and 99.71cc engine. The bike is also Air-cooled, which may be backdated, but the decision was taken to keep the price down. It also has good power and torque figure. The engine gives out 8.4BHP of power at 8000rpm and 7.5Nm of torque at 5000rpm.
The bike comes with a wet multi-disc clutch. It also comes with a 4-speed gearbox, which may be a bit boring, but fewer gears mean that turning is easier and there are longer gears with good engine braking ability.
Brakes, Suspension, and Wheels
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 comes with a disc-drum setup. That means the bike has a disc in the front and a drum in the rear as brakes. The front disc is quite small, which may cause sudden jerks when applying the brakes at high speed. The rear being drum makes it unsuitable for high-speed emergency braking, but for moderate speed maneuver or cruising will be fine.
The Roadmaster Velocity 100 has telescopic forks in the front and that already tells you that going through bumpy roads won’t be very difficult. The rear has two gas-filled spring-loaded suspension forks. The rear suspension will not work the best in bumpy conditions, but will just be okay.
The bike comes with standard tread tires. The wheels are alloy-based. The front and rear have 2.75/18 against 3.25/18 as the tire sizes. The rear tire is fairly fat and will help riders hit the corners with more precision and will also give confidence to the riders on the road.
The bike was made for the regular commuter with a small budget. As this bike is quite stylish and good-looking, it will attract many youngsters and office goers who wish to buy a bike without burning a hole in their pockets.
