Unless you are living under a rock, you know about the new New Suzuki Gixxer. This is the latest official bike of Suzuki, available in Bangladesh. The bike came with a lot of hope, aspirations, features, and curiosity. This bike has been attracting attention even before it was launched. It can easily be called one of the most anticipated bikes of the year 2020.
Suzuki Gixxer has been in the South Asian markets since 2014. And even though it may not have been the best bike series, it has earned respect from all riders in the block. The Suzuki Gixxer series has been the biggest competitor of the Yamaha FZ series and has always been toe-to-toe in features and preferences. The newest installment in the New Suzuki Gixxer was released in Bangladesh in July 2020.
The most enticing aspect of the New Suzuki Gixxer is the new design of the bike. The new edgy and sporty design of the bike has made everyone fall in love with it. The extended air-scoops beside the tank give out a big bike vibe. The wholly redesigned tank with the cutouts to give more space for the legs make it look like a beast. The extended tail section with a more oversized pillion seat makes it look longer. The new designs for the headlight and the taillight are also very refreshing. The headlight gives a retro vibe to the look, while the curved taillight makes it look like a joker’s smile.
The New Suzuki Gixxer also gets LED treatments where necessary. The headlight is a LED setup for both the high and low beams. The LEDs make sure that you are covered well in the dark and that you don’t feel the need for extra high-powered LEDs. The taillight is a dual-tone LED, ensuring that your tail is visible from a mile away. Although it wouldn’t make much of a difference, LED indicators could have been an added feature to this bike and would have contributed to the minimalistic look of the bike.
The New Suzuki Gixxer comes in three colors. They are:
All the colors mentioned above are of gloss finish. The bikes have no decals, except for the brandings. The gloss finish paired with the minimal decals makes the bike look very mature.
One of the most significant advantages of Suzuki Gixxer is the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster in the new New Suzuki Gixxer is also very informative, just like the previous versions. The instrument cluster contains a gear position indicator, a clock, and everything else that is needed. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a new ride or an experienced one; everyone appreciates an informative instrument cluster
The New Suzuki Gixxer is a reasonably tall bike with a saddle height of 800mm. It can easily accommodate a 5’7″ or above rider, but riders under that may find it a bit difficult to handle. The bike also gets an average-sized fuel tank of 12liters, which is enough for the city commute, but may be problematic for the highway.
The height, length, width, and weight of the New Suzuki Gixxer are 1200mm, 2030mm, 820mm, and 136kg. It is not very heavy, but it isn’t the lightest bike either, so its aerodynamics will not be a problem. The bike also has an average wheelbase of 1335mm, which balances the bike’s wheelbase perfectly.
Engine and Transmission:
The New Suzuki Gixxer has a 4-stroke, single-cylinder, and 154.9cc engine. The engine comes with 2-valves, SOHC, and is air-cooled. Over those, the bike in two variants: Fuel-injected and carbureted. The engine pumps out 14.1BHP of power at 8000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6000rpm for both variants. The control of the bike remains the same as the previous version of the bike. The bike is expected to have a fuel efficiency of 35/40kmpl (carb/FI).
The New Suzuki Gixxer comes with an essential wet multi-plate clutch. The bike has a 5-speed gearbox, which is understandable considering the power structure of the bike. However, a 6-speed gearbox would have been better for this bike with this power.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The brakes of the New Suzuki Gixxer are another added feature of the bike. It has a dual-disc setup for brakes. The FI variant of the bike gets an ABS, while the carb variant of the bike gets a primary front brake. The front brake of the bike is quite suitable for both variants, so is the rear brake. The rear brakes being disc allows it to be entirely appropriate.
The New Suzuki Gixxer comes with telescopic forks at the front. The forks at the front are oil damped and have coil springs. The front suspension is slightly stiff, which may be a problem for the bumpy city commutes of Bangladesh. The rear has a swingarm-based mono-shock suspension, which is expected to perform well and suitably.
The New Suzuki Gixxer gets cast alloy wheels. The front and the rear wheel have 100/80 and 140/60 section tires, respectively. The fat rear tire ensures more accessible and more confident cornering. The front wheel is ideally in balance with the rear wheel.
The New Suzuki Gixxer comes prepared for the new up-and-coming riders with all the necessary features. The features are there for the riders to have a good learning curve and make riding this bike easier. This bike is much more forgiving than the carburetor version. This will also be very suitable for people looking for a good-looking naked motorcycle.
The competitors of the New Suzuki Gixxer are named below:
- FZs FI series.

- Suzuki Gixxer 155 (older versions)
