Keeway RK 125
Market status: Available in Bangladesh
The market for commuter bikes is quite expanded in Bangladesh. The bikes that come in the 125cc to 135cc range are quite boring in most cases and don’t always look the part. But on the other hand, there is the Keeway RK 125. The KTM inspired headlight and the sporty graphics are sure to make the butterflies in your stomach fly around like crazy.
The Keeway RK 125 is a 124cc motorcycle introduced by Keeway in Bangladesh. The bike was introduced as a commuter motorcycle. The bike was designed by the people at Benelli, which explains such good and smooth looks.
The Keeway RK 125 was made with the DNA of the Keeway RK 150. Keeway claims that the Keeway RK 125 is the little brother of the Keeway RK 150, just with less power and more affordability. The Keeway RK 125 can be less powerful than the 150 but is more powerful than most 125cc bikes.
The Keeway RK 125 comes with filament lamps for both the headlight and rear light, but they are both very bright and are suitable for the night rides. The high beam is also bright enough for highway rides.
The Keeway RK 125 comes with a sleek and sporty design. The bike comes with sporty stripes that make it seem very smooth. It also comes in glossy colors and all the colors have similar designs, but each color is refreshing to see.
The Keeway RK 125 comes in four different colors:
The grey and blue bikes come in red decals, the white bike comes with black decals, and the black bike comes with white decals.
The Keeway RK 125 is fairly low and assistive towards shorter riders, with a seat height of 785mm. Even though it has a low saddle height, it still has a suitable ground clearance of 175mm. The bike is tall and upright, which suits the commuter category. The bike also has a short wheelbase, of only 1245mm, which may bring the question of stability.
The height, width, length, and weight of the Keeway RK 125 are 1050mm, 785mm, 1980mm, and 116kg respectively. The bike has a generalized seating area, which expands the kind of riders who can swing a leg over this bike. The bike is also light, so flicking the over from one side to another, and to swerve comfortably on the road.
Engine and Transmission:
The Keeway RK 125 has a 4-stroke SOHC engine with 124cc and is air-cooled. The engine gives out 10.1BHP of power at 8500rpm and 9Nm of torque at 7500rpm. The torque and power figures are on par with its competitors. Since the bike is a commuter, it is expected to provide a suitable mileage, and the company claimed mileage of the bike is 60kmpl.
The Keeway RK 125 has a regular wet multi-plate clutch system. It has a 5-speed gearbox. Since it is a commuter bike, the power delivery is expected to be at the mid-range and the low-range.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Keeway RK 125 comes with a disc-drum setup. The front is a disc brake, the safety profile of the bike instantly increases. But since the disc is small, pushing the brake lever hard may jerk the bike very hard. The rear being drum, it can be expected that most veteran riders will opt for the front brake as their primary brake.
The Keeway RK 125 comes with telescopic forks on the front, which are covered with an ugly fork spring designed cover. The forks have travel of 110mm, which will give ample support on the bumpy roads of the cities of Bangladesh. The rear has a spring-loaded oil-filled telescopic suspension. The rear suspension has a travel of 60mm, which may not be the best suspension for a pillion, but will have to do considering the price range.
The Keeway RK 125 comes with alloy wheels. The front and the rear have tires of 2.75/18 and 3.00/18 sections. Considering the bike, the rear tire is a bit small. A 3.25/18 section tire would do more justice to the bike. But with the present setup, the riders will just have to be a bit more careful during turning/cornering.
The Keeway RK 125 is for the regular commuter. The person who wishes to buy a bike for the sole purpose of commuting and maybe some short trips out of town. The bike is well built and will be able to withstand the tortures of the city traffic and the bumpy roads of Bangladesh.
All in all, the Keeway RK 125 is a good 124cc commuter bike within the 125cc to 135cc range. The bike is expected to hold up the Keeway name with its features and affordability.
