Honda Dream 110 is the newest addition to the commuter segment by Honda Private Limited Bangladesh. The commuter segment of motorcycles in Bangladesh is seen just like Prius is seen in the USA; It may not be what we want, but it is always there to save the day when we have a small budget. The commuter segment is also considered as the segment that gives the most bang for the buck. Honda over the years has given the Bangladeshi motorcycling crowd quite a few commuters, and the Honda Dream 110 is another name in that list.
Honda is one of the most popular motorcycle manufacturers in the world. The Honda CBR series remains one of the most desirable series in the world. On the other hand, Honda is one of the leading names in the commuting segment of Bangladesh. Honda does business in Bangladesh through Bangladesh Honda Private Limited which is a joint venture between Honda Motor Company Limited (Japan) and Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (Bangladesh State-owned corporation). Honda is one of the motorcycle companies in Bangladesh.
One of the major factors of Honda Dream 110 is the design and appearance. It looks sporty, while still maintaining comfortable ergonomics. If you look at the bike, it will look a lot similar to the Honda Dream Neo. The bike also maintains the classic Honda look that they try to instill upon all Honda commuter bikes. The bike comes with an extended seat which gives the rider and the pillion adequate space to sit comfortably.
The Honda Dream 110 comes in three different and attractive colors. They are:
The decals of all three variants of the bike are the same as each other. The decals are what gives the
bike a very sporty look.
The Honda Dream 110 comes with an adjustable suspension which is a feature that very few bikes get. The 5-step adjustable rear suspension will give the pillion utmost comfort on the bumpy roads of Bangladesh. The bike also gets one of the best mileages in town. The bike is expected to have a mileage of 74kmpl, which makes the bike one of the most fuel-efficient bikes in the country.
The Honda Dream 110 is a short motorcycle. It has a low saddle of 775mm, with a good ground clearance of 180mm. This ground clearance is more than enough for the city commute and also to avoid most potholes. It also has a fairly average tank of 8liters, but considering the fuel efficiency of the bike due to the low capacity, it will be more than adequate for the commutes.
The Honda Dream 110 has a big enough body to be noticed. The height, length, width, and weight of the Honda Dream 110 are 1061mm, 2020mm, 737mm, and 107kg respectively. The bike is lighter than the 125cc bikes but is slightly heavier than the 100cc bikes. This bike also has a very short wheelbase of 1285mm, which makes it very compact and nimble and also quite easy to squeeze through heavy traffic.
Engine and Transmission:
The Honda Dream 110 has a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 110cc engine. The engine is carbureted and air-cooled, which is expected at this price range. The engine pumps out around 8.247BHP at 7500rpm and 9.09Nm of torque at 5500rpm. The power is quite adequate compared to other bikes of this range. The company has claimed that the bike has a mileage of around 74kmpl, which makes it one of the most fuel-efficient bikes in Bangladesh.
The Honda Dream 110 also has a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. There are 4 gears for the transmission, which means the engine brake is stronger and adequate for turning without a downshift. It has a top speed of around 86kmph (company claimed).
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The brakes of the Honda Dream 110 are quite disappointing as the bike does not have any disc brakes. The front and the rear wheels both get drum brakes. At least a front disc would have done the bike justice. This one factor of the bike might set the bike back in front of its competitors.
The Honda Dream 110 comes with a telescopic fork set up at the front and a telescopic spring-loaded 5-step adjustable suspension setup at the rear. The front telescopic forks are expected to respond well on the road. The rear dual spring-loaded 5-step adjustable setup is also quite good, as it responds well on bumpy roads while giving comfort to the rider and the pillion’s butt.
The Honda Dream 110 has alloy wheels. It has an 80/100 tire setup for both tires. The front tire of the bike is fair enough. The rear tire of the bike is quite disappointing as such a thin tire may affect the stability of the bike at high speeds. The rear tire would have been better if it were 100/80, as that would be very good for the bike.
The Honda Dream 110 is targeted towards classic and commuting bike lovers. This bike will satisfy the people who are looking for a good-looking commuting bike, that also looks classic and at the same time new. A person who is new to motorcycles will also find this bike very simple, comfortable, and forgiving. This bike will be best for people who are looking for a simple bike to commute on or to learn on.
The competitors of the Honda Dream 110 are listed below:
1) Hero Splendor Series.
2) Bajaj Discover 110 Drum.
3) Bajaj Platina ES.
4) Honda Livo 110 Disc/Drum.
The Honda Dream 110 is a great bike. It is the true successor of the Dream Neo. This bike has a lot of potentials. However, the Dream 110 does have a few flaws, which could have been easily avoided by Honda. Other than those, the Dream 110 is a great bike with great and powerful specifications.
