PROS
  • Decent Looks
  • i3S Technology
  • Integrated Braking System
CONS
  • No Disc Brake option
  • Old styling

Key Features: HERO Splendor Plus is a perfect commuter. This bike features a 100 cc segment engine with decent styling. With its proper styling, it surely grabs the attention of people around. The IBS version features an Integrated Braking system that combines both brakes into unison.

The Splendor was launched back in 1994 and is the spiritual successor to the CD 100. It continues to clock over a million units a year. The Splendor is available in many different avatars, one of which is the Splendor Plus i3s. Despite being long in the tooth, it has a decent number of standard features.

What distinguishes it from the competition is the addition of the i3s technology, a start/stop system that contributes to even more fuel saving. Also, to commensurate the motorcycle’s existence, Hero has introduced a 25th Anniversary Special Edition variant which receives a black paint scheme with yellow and orange graphics. It also gets blacked-out alloys instead of silver ones and a charging port located on the handlebar as standard. It also gets special badging on the side panels and the front headlamp cowl.

Physical Attributes: The Splendor Plus is a reliable commute-focused bike that has been here for a long time now. The bike’s overall length is 2000 mm, while the width and height are kept at 720 mm and 1040 mm, respectively. The bike has a 10.5L fuel tank, and the overall weight of the bike is 109 kg for IBS and 113 kg for SP with an electric start. The styling, as well as the fit and finish, feels quite nice. The bike has a minimum ground clearance of 159 mm, which is OK.

The Splendor’s no-nonsense bodywork and design, featuring a bikini fairing and a rectangular headlight, have remained unchanged in the BS6 iteration. The only distinct aspect is the additional catalytic converter on the exhaust system and the new black/red paint scheme.

The Hero Splendor Plus is a commuter motorcycle, and the Splendor brand has been in the Indian market for a very long time. The Splendor Plus features a few modern touches such as new body graphics, alloy wheels, and a new paint scheme in its current avatar. On the design front, the Splendor Plus looks simple yet stylish in its segment. Upfront, the motorcycle features a rectangular headlight with a cowl; the seat is spacious and offers a comfortable ride. The tail section is simple yet practical with the sturdy grabrail, which doubles as a luggage rack.

Being a basic commuter motorcycle, the Splendor isn’t precisely feature-rich. You get alloy wheels as standard and the option of an electric start system and Hero’s i3S stop-start system, which helps keep the bike as economical as possible. A CBS system and a preload-adjustable rear suspension come standard. Like the rest of the bikes, the analog instrument cluster is also very basic.

Engine and Transmission: Splendor Plus possesses a 97.2cc, 4-Stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled OHC engine. This engine can produce up to 8.36 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 8.05 Nm of peak torque at 5000 RPM. The starting method for the machine is kick type with an electric option for the SP edition. The transmission is a 4-speed manual one with a wet multi-plate clutch

Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels: The suspension system of this bike has a swing arm with 5 step adjustable hydraulic shocks at the rear and a set of telescopic spring-type hydraulic suspensions upfront. The SPLENDOR PLUS comes with 130mm Internal Expanding Shoe type drums at both wheels for braking. The 18” spoke wheels come with tubeless tires measuring 80/100-18 M/C with a 47P upfront and 54P rear.

The Hero Splendor BS6 remains a no-frills motorcycle. It gets a basic lighting system and an analog console. This basic instrumentation reads out only the speed, total distance covered, and fuel level. The bikini fairing and the iconic rectangular headlight have been synonymous with the Splendor.

The i3S variant, as the name suggests, comes with the Idle Stop-Start System. This feature turns off the engine when it idles for more than 5 seconds in traffic. The engine turns back on once the clutch lever is pulled. This helps it extract better mileage out of the motorcycle, especially on traffic-riddled roads.

Target Audience: The HERO Splendor Plus is targeted at the commuters of the country. City commuters looking for an excellent bike for moving around and about in the city usually opt for this bike. Small businessmen and young job holders are the main customers of this bike.

Competitors: Proper competitors of HERO Splendor Plus in Bangladesh are:

  • TVS Metro
  • SUZUKI Hayate
  • HONDA Dream NEO

Brief Conclusion

Overall, the HERO Splendor Plus tries to deliver in the segment with what the bike was meant to do, serving city commutes. So, the buyers will be most likely be satisfied with such a purchase.
