The motorcycle market is very volatile. Some motorcycles rise to fame instantly, some motorcycles take years before receiving recognition, and some motorcycles were not famous during its time but later became cult classics. However, there are very few motorcycles that instantly became famous. The Hero Passion XPro is one of those motorcycles.
Hero MotoCorp is the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world and India. Hero MotoCorp has brought multiple commuter bikes to the South Asian region. Motorcycles like Hero Glamour, Hero Ignitor, and the Hero Splendor series are a few of the most notable motorcycles by Hero. Hero Passion XPro instantly received recognition after release.
The Hero Passion XPro has a very minimalistic instrument cluster. The instrument cluster has a speedometer, a fuel gauge, and an odometer. There are other necessary indicators. The instrument cluster only shows information that is necessary for a regular commuter.
The design of the Hero Passion XPro is very unique and sporty. The bike is sure to attract any bike lover at first sight. The bike has sporty and stylish decals. The bike comes to Bangladesh in two major colors. They are:
Both colors have similar decals.
The Hero Passion XPro comes with i3s technology. This is a proprietary technology of Hero MotorCorp. Many Hero bikes get this technology. The function of this feature is to turn off the bike if it remains idle for more than 10 seconds and to instantly start the bike as soon as the clutch is pressed. This technology was made to increase the fuel efficiency of the bikes.
The Hero Passion XPro comes with an AC connected halogen headlight. The headlights dim down very much when the bike is moving at a speed above 70kmph. This does pose a problem for the rider, as this makes the bike very unsuitable for night rides. The bike also has a halogen taillight and LED indicators.
The Hero Passion XPro is a fairly short bike. The bike seat is highly suitable for riders under the height of 5’7”. But with a short height, it also comes with average ground clearance. The bike has a ground clearance of 165mm, which won’t cause problems on most speed-bumps of Bangladesh. The bike also has a 9.2liter fuel tank, which is very convenient for city riding and a bit inconvenient for short rides out of town as well.
The length, width, and height of the Hero Passion XPro are 1966mm, 774mm, and 1087mm. The bike has a fairly short wheelbase of 1245mm. This wheelbase may seem very short, but it is perfect for a bike of this capacity and also enables this bike to be very compact.
Engine and Transmission:
The Hero Passion XPro comes with a 4-stroke, single-cylinder, and 109.15cc engine. The engine pumps out 9.39BHP of power at 7500rpm and 9Nm of torque at 5500rpm. The engine may not be the most powerful, but it is fuel-friendly. The bike has the i3s technology to support fuel efficiency as well. The bike has a mileage of around 55kmpl on average.
The Hero Passion XPro comes with a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. It also comes with a 4-speed gearbox. The long gearbox ensures that the bike can take tight turns with the help of engine braking alone and that no down-shift is required. The top speed of the bike is around 102kmph (BikeBD Tested).
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Hero Passion XPro comes in two variants: one with a disc-drum braking system, and another with a full drum braking system. The front of the disc-drum variant has a 240mm disc and the rear wheels have 130mm drum brakes. Now, that is a very big advantage for a bike of this caliber, like disc brakes at front increase the braking performance of a bike significantly. The axially mounted brakes at the front may not be the best brakes there are, but it is good enough. The full drum variant of the bike comes with the same specs but with a 130mm drum at the front instead of the 240mm disc. It can be expected that the disc-drum variant will sell more.
The Hero Passion XPro comes with telescopic forks for front suspensions and telescopic spring-loaded five-step adjustable suspension for the rear. The front suspension is expected to respond well on bumpy roads, but the rear suspension may not respond very well on bumpy roads, especially with a pillion.
The Hero Passion XPro comes with alloy wheels. The front and rear wheels have 2.75/17 and 3.00/17 section tires. The rear wheels are very thin and could have been better if they were slightly thicker. A 3.50/17 section tire would have been a consequential improvement. This means the leaning during high-speed cornering will not be a good idea for the riders of this bike.
Pros and Cons:
