Bajaj Discover 125ST Review
Overview: The Bajaj Discover 125ST is the new generation of commuting motorcycle introduced by Bajaj Auto (Source). The ST in this case, stands for “Sports Tourer”. The Discover series of Bajaj is being following the same trend since the first Discover 135. Bajaj gave us the several models of Discover with various displacements until the Discover 125ST. It has completely new design and engine compared to the previous generation of Discovers. So without further ado, let’s jump into the detailed features of the 125ST.
Design: At first sight, you will notice that it is completely new than anything Bajaj ever made. The gently curved fuel tank, the all new web-spoke alloy wheels, the sharp and sleek front mudguard, the wide cowl over the eagle eye head lamp, the whole front section of the bike looks like a transformer’s head, the newly designed rear mudguard and tail lamp everything in this says itself that it is something you never seen before.
The bike is equipped with a rear mono shock which is first to be used in an Indian 125cc commuter motorcycle. The bike has new highly stylish decals that are full of flair effects.Even the exhaust was made especially for this bike. The color choices available for the bike are Blue, Blue-Black, Red and Red-Black.

Instrument Cluster and Switch Gears: The 125ST has a full analog instrument cluster which is pretty standard in this segment,showing speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge and some indicators. The instrument cluster lacks the very important tachometer as Bajaj claims it to be a “Sports Tourer”. The switch gears are standard though it lacks an engine kill switch.
Engine and Performance: The Discover 125ST is rocking a 124.5cc single cylinder, 4 stroke, air cooled, 4-valve, DTS-I, carbureted engine with Bajaj’s exhaustTEC which is capable of producing 13 PS of peak power @9000 RPM and 11 NM of peak torque @6000 RPM. This bike has some serious ready pickup due to its light weight body and shorter gear ratio.
The dry weight of the bike is 121 KGs. So this bike has some impressive power to weight ratio at lower RPM hence the ready pickup and the 4-valve which is also first in an Indian 125cc bike, also creates the head room for engine to breath in the time of need.These make the bike achieve 0-60 at 5.94 sec. which is impressive for a 125cc Indian bike. All these are coupled with a 5-speed gear box.
The 4-valve means it will burn comparatively more fuel than average 125cc engine. But Bajaj Auto did a very good job in that sector too. It has a mileage claim of 55Kmpl while the approximate top speed being 105 Kmph. The fuel tank capacity is 10liters. The bike cruises around 70-80 speed effortlessly.
Dimensions, Breaking and Handling: The Bajaj Discover 125ST is above average when it comes to dimensions of the bike. It has a ground clearance of 170mm which should be able to avoid almost every terrain the road has to offer. For breaking the bike has 200mm petal disk up front and a 130mm drum break at the rear. The tires are also above average as it has 80/100-17” at front and 100/90-17” at rear.
The tires are somehow is a letdown in this bike as they are tubed tires. For suspensions, the 125ST has a telescopic antifriction fork at front and the nitrox mono shock at the rear. The suspension setup of this bike is on the comfort side rather sportiness. The handling of the bike is pretty easy as the wheelbase being 1255mm and being bike itself pretty light weight it feels safe to playing around though changing the tires to something better is preferred.
The bike also has a Semi Double Cradle Frame which makes it rigid on potholes on the roads though vibration is felt on the handlebar and foot pegs.
Conclusion: If you want something playful and not dangerous or you are a new rider then the Bajaj Discover 125ST is highly recommended.
