Bajaj Discover 110 Drum
Market status: Available in Bangladesh
Bajaj Discover 110 Drum is another installment in the Bajaj Discover series. The Bajaj Discover series is probably one of the most popular series in Bangladesh. The popularity of the Bajaj Discover is there mostly because of the demand for commuter bikes in Bangladesh. The general public, who use commuter bikes, deem the Bajaj Discover series to be one of the best-value-for-money commuter bike series in Bangladesh. There are two versions of the Bajaj Discover 110 available in Bangladesh; they are the disc and the drum variant. Here we will be talking about the Bajaj Discover 110 Drum
Bajaj is one of the most popular motorcycle brands in the South Asian region. Bajaj is so popular that it has also collaborated with KTM. Over the years Bajaj has sold countless commuter motorcycles in Bangladesh. Bikes series such as the Pulsar Series, Discover Series, and Platina Series are widely popular among Bangladeshis.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum has a halogen light setup. However, the head section of the bike has LED DRLs that make the bike look even more visible and unique. The taillight and the indicators are also bulbs. The DRL clears out the necessity for AHO, as the DRLs do the job of the AHO.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum’s mileage is probably one of the best in this segment. The bike has an expected mileage of around 65+kmpl in Bangladesh. A 110cc bike with such mileage is commendable. The mileage of the bike can easily make you forget to fill your tank for a long time.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum comes with a very neo-retro instrument cluster. The instrument cluster comes with a speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meter, clock, and other necessary indicators. The speedometer of the bike is an analog unit, while the rest of the features are digital. However, the bike misses on an RPM counter and a gear position indicator.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum comes in 4 different colors. They are:
All four bikes come with very similar decal designs.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum is a short motorcycle. It has a low saddle, and anyone above the height of 5’2” can swing a leg over the bike comfortably. The bike has a ground clearance of 165mm, which is enough for the city commute. The bike has a fuel tank of 8 liters, which is not much, but the mileage of the bike compensates for it.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum has an average-sized body compared to other bikes. The height, length, width, and weight of the Bajaj Discover 110 Drum are 1078mm, 1980mm, 714mm, and 125kg respectively. The bike is not very light when compared to most 125cc bikes, but this keeps the bike stable at high speeds. This bike also has a very short wheelbase of 1305mm, which makes it quite compact but also makes it stable at the corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum has a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 115.45cc engine. The engine is carbureted and air-cooled, which is expected at this price range. The engine pumps out around 8.6PS at 7000rpm and 9.81Nm of torque at 5000rpm. The power is quite adequate compared to other bikes of this range. It has a possible mileage of around 65+kmpl on average. It has both electric (self) and kick start.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum also has a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. There are 4 gears for the transmission, which means the engine is quite strong. It has a top speed of around 90kmph (Company claimed).
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
Although there is a disc brake variant, a lot of people also think of saving some money when buying a bike. That is exactly why Bajaj brought you the drum brake variant of the Bajaj Discover 110 Drum. The drum brakes are good, but not the best. The brakes are, however, adequate for the bike as it is a mere 110cc bike.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum comes with a telescopic fork set up at the front and a spring-loaded Nitrox (gas-filled) twin shock setup at the rear. The front telescopic forks are expected to respond well on the road, as it has 140mm fork travel. The rear Nitrox suspension is also expected to perform adequately in the city as the suspensions have 120mm travel.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum has alloy wheels. It has 2.75/17 and a 3.00/17 tire setup. The tires are slightly thin. Slightly thicker tires would have been better for the rider’s comfort and controlling. However, for a bike of this caliber, the tires would be adequate.
Pros and Cons:
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum comes with a few flaws as well.
- Modern design.
- Compact and stable.
- Powerful compared to others of this segment.
- Front suspension and Nitrox rear suspension.
- Not enough features in the instrument cluster.
- Low-powered headlight.
- No change in design over the years.
The Bajaj Discover 110 Drum is for the people who want to feel the reliability of the Bajaj Discover series, but are also on a budget. This bike is for the regular commuters whose sole purpose for buying a bike is to escape the city traffic. Most buyers of this bike is expected to be middle-aged people. This bike is also quite suitable for short riders.
