Description
Adventure bikes (ADVs) first came to Bangladesh when Rasel Industries first introduced the Lifan KPT 150. The Lifan KPT 150 didn’t have any competition, nor did the people have any other option. Finally, the Italian company Aprilia came out with the Aprilia Terra 150 in 2020. The ADV segment now has only two bikes going head to head against each other. They are the Aprilia Terra 150 and the Lifan KPT 150. Here we will be discussing the Aprilia Terra 150.
Aprilia is an Italian motorcycle manufacturing company. They started out making cycles, later they went on to make scooters and small-capacity motorcycles. Finally, they went on to make bikes of higher capacity such as the V Twin RSV Mille and the V4 RSV4. Aprilia reached Bangladesh through Runner Automobiles Ltd. Runner Automobiles brought the Aprilia Terra 150 in 2020. As soon as the Aprilia Terra 150 released it started receiving praises and commendations.
Key Features:
The Aprilia Terra 150 is a complete ADV bike. It has elevated mudguards and a stock luggage rail. These functionalities may seem very uncommon to the regular biker, but for an adventure rider, these functionalities are quite common and required. The seat of the bike is quite wide and extended. The rear seat is also elevated slightly so the pillion can sit full privacy.
The Aprilia Terra 150 comes with a Halogen-LED light setup. The headlight is a halogen light with wide reflectors. The headlight is bright enough for the highway. The taillight is an LED light which is quite wide and can be noticed from a distance. The indicators are also LED. The LED lights are arrow-shaped, which makes them quite attractive.
The instrument cluster of the Aprilia Terra 150 is a semi-digital instrument cluster. The instrument cluster consists of a speedometer, an RPM counter, gear position indicator, a trip meter, an odometer, and other necessary indicators. The instrument cluster consists of all the necessary information any veteran or intermediate will need.
The Aprilia Terra 150 comes in three colors. The colors are:
- Red.
- Black.
- White.
All the bikes come with similar decals. The decals of the bike are very sporty and unique.
Physical Attributes:
The Terra 150 has a very assistive height. The seat height of the bike is 800mm, which is very suitable for riders above the height of 5’5”. The ground clearance of the bike makes it suitable to conquer all types of bumps in Bangladesh, however, any high bumps in a trail are a whole different story. The bike has a fuel capacity of 11.2litres. If the fuel capacity was a little more, it would have been much better.
The length, width, height, and weight of the Aprilia Terra 150 are 2130mm, 790mm, 1245mm, and 126kg respectively. As most ADV bikes are a bit on the heavier side, this bike can also be expected to be on the heavier side. The wheelbase of the bike is about 1425mm, which is quite long compared to other bikes. This allows the bikes to be very stable at the corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The Aprilia Terra 150 is set up with a DOHC, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, and 150cc engine. The Terra is liquid-cooled, and fuel injected. The engine gives out around 18BHP of power at 9750RPM, and around 14Nm of torque at 7500RPM. The power is extremely high and will be helpful on the highway, the torque will also be very helpful to cut through the trails. The bike is expected to have a mileage of around 42kmpl.
The Terra comes with a wet multi-plate clutch system. The bike has a 6-speed gearbox with the bike pumping out power even in the 6th gear. The bike is expected to have a top speed of around 125kmph.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Aprilia Terra 150 has no ABS or CBS. The rear and the front are both disc brakes. The front disc is radially mounted dual with dual calipers. The front brakes are expected to perform well. The rear brake is a basic disc brake. The rear brake is also expected to perform quite well.
The Aprilia Terra 150 has front telescopic forks as front suspension. The rear has a mono shock-absorbing suspension. This means that the bike will be highly stable during rides and also during cornering. The rear seat is very wide and long, which allows pillions to sit easily and comfortably for long hours. The front suspension provides quite good support on the trail and the highways.
The Aprilia Terra 150 gets spoke wheels. The front and rear wheels have 100/90 and 130/80 tires respectively. The tires provided are semi off-road treads, which means the bike will perform well on both on-road and off-road. However, it may be a jack of all trades, it will also be the king of none. This means it won’t perform like a road racing bike on the road, nor will it perform like a dirt bike on the trails.
Target Audience:
The Aprilia Terra 150 was made for the tourer. A tourer who wishes to use a bike to ride up the hills and beyond. This bike will also fascinate youngsters as this bike has a very well-designed look with modern aesthetic decals. However, it is not suggested to ride this bike as a beginner.
Competitors:
Weirdly, the Aprilia Terra 150 has only 2 competitors, but the competitors are strong enough to question the buyer’s decisions.
- Lifan KPT 150 series.
- Kawasaki KLX 150 series.
The Aprilia Terra 150 is one of the two available ADV bikes in Bangladesh. The Terra may have flaws, but at the end of the day, it is an exceptional motorcycle. The bike is commendable and worthy of praise. Should you buy this bike? Whether you like the Aprilia Terra 150 and want to buy it is a question best answered by you.
