Aprilia SR 125
Aprilia SR 125 is a sporty looking 125cc commuting scooter. The scooter market before 2010 used to be very boring and quite saturated. But after 2010, newer and better-looking scooters started to make their way into the market. This has allowed quite a few manufacturers to up their design and feature games in the scooter section. This revolution has allowed Aprilia SR 150 and Aprilia SR 125 to make its way into the hands of the consumer.
Aprilia is one of the biggest European motorcycle manufacturers. Aprilia initially started making cycles, and later made their way up the two-wheeled ladder. In recent years, Aprilia has been making high capacity beasts such as the Aprilia RSV Mille and the Aprilia RSV4. Aprilia is marketed in Bangladesh through Runner Automobiles Bangladesh. Aprilia and Runner brought the Aprilia SR 125 to Bangladesh to fill the void of the 125cc sport commuter scooters.
Aprilia SR 125 is a sports commuter scooter. This scooter comes with a fully sporty design and sporty decals exactly like the SR 150. The decals of the scooter give it a very premium appearance. The scooter has a long single seat, with the pillion side slightly elevated to make the scooter look sportier. The head and tail sections of the bike are designed exactly like the SR 150. The SR 125 comes in two different colors, they are Blue and Grey.
The light setup of the Aprilia SR 125 is a complete halogen setup. The headlight of the scooter is a halogen light. The headlight will be quite suitable for the city commute, however, for the long ride out of town (not suggested), the light might not be sufficient. The taillight of the scooter is also a halogen bulb, which is sufficient to be noticeable from a distance. The indicators are also bulbs, but for a scooter of the modern age, bulb indicators are a bit backdated.
The scooter comes with a very minimalistic instrument cluster. The instrument cluster of the Aprilia SR 125 comes with a speedometer, an odometer, and a fuel gauge. The instrument cluster does not have any gear position indicator as the scooter comes with an automatic transmission. The instrument cluster has been kept minimal so that the rider does not get confused while commuting.
The question of the storage space of the scooter is answerable in a positive way, as this scooter has a space sufficient to hold a helmet. This scooter has quite a spacious storage which will allow scooter riders to carry their regular commuting with their baggage and everything else.
The Aprilia SR 125 is a small and sporty machine. It has a saddle height of 775mm. Which allows riders of 5’3” to comfortably ride the scooter. The leg rest at the front also has suitable space for taller riders not to feel uncomfortable. The scooter also has a ground clearance of about 155mm, which is enough to avoid most speedbumps of BD. The fuel capacity of the scooter is about 6.6liters, which is slightly more than the SR 150, but nearly the same.
The length, width, height, and weight of the Aprilia SR 125 are 1770mm, 690mm, 1140mm, and 115kg. The scooter is a little bit lighter than the SR 150, but it is enough for the scooter to be aerodynamic and to stay grounded. The scooter has a ground clearance of around 1290mm, which is more than enough to keep the scooter stable while at corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The Aprilia SR 125 comes with a 4-stroke, single-cylinder, and 124cc engine. The engine is also air-cooled and carbureted. The engine pumps out 9.6BHP of power at 7250rpm, and 9.9Nm of torque at 6250rpm. The power and torque of the scooter seems a little less for the highway but is quite enough for the city commute. The scooter is expected to have a fuel efficiency of 45kmpl combined (city and highway).
The Aprilia SR 125 comes with a fully automatic gearbox, which makes it very much easy to control. The Aprilia SR 125 also has an engine-mapping system which makes it detect the elevation of the scooter and send power to the wheels accordingly.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Aprilia SR 125 comes with a Disc-drum setup. The front has a 220mm disc brake while the rear has a 140mm drum brake. The front disc is quite big, and also bigger than quite a few motorcycles as well. The rear drum brake setup is quite common in the 125cc segment as these scooters are mostly used for the city commute, and a drum brake is more than enough for the city commute.
The Aprilia SR 125 has telescopic forks as the front suspension, whereas the rear has a single spring-loaded fork on one side of the scooter. The front suspension is expected to perform well, while the rear suspension may not be the best for a pillion, but will be quite responsive at corners.
The Aprilia SR 125 comes with alloy wheels. The front and rear both have 120/70 sectioned tires. The wheels are both 14” at the front and rear. The big wheels take away some of the nimbleness of the bike, while the thick tires allow the rider to comfortably corner and lean.
The Aprilia SR 125 was made for the sporty scooter lover. It was made for the commuter who wants a sporty scooter at an affordable price. This scooter is for people who are looking for a low capacity scooter.
The competitors of the Aprilia SR 125 are:
- Suzuki Access.
- Keeway K Blade 125.

In conclusion, the Aprilia SR 125 is a great 125cc motorcycle with a lot of great features. The bike has a lot to offer compared to its competitors. The Aprilia SR 125 is the 125cc sports commuting scooter to go for.
