Bajaj Discover 150F Review
Overview: The most recognized commuter in Bangladesh without any doubt is the Bajaj’s Discover series. The new flagship of this series is the new Bajaj Discover 150F. This is a semi-faired version of the Discover 150S which is launched earlier in India. The 150F has a 144.5cc engine capable of producing 14.3BHP and 12.75NM of torque. The main selling proposition of the bike was the impressive mileage claim of 72KMPL. Let’s check out what else the Discover 150F has to offer?
Design and Features: The design of Discover 150F is clearly inspired by the Discover 125ST with a semi-fairing like we saw in the Pulsar 220 added to it. The 150F is equipped with mono shock absorber at the rear just like 125ST and also shares the same web-spoke alloy wheels, a huge mudguard, a long unibody seat, a muscular fuel tank.
The 150F gets a traditional Discover decal job that bears the unique identity of this series. Actually this decal job makes the bike more appealing. Moreover the 150F comes with verity of color choices i.e. Black Gold, Dark Blue, Dark Bottle Green, Ebony Black and Wine Red. Bajaj used a semi-double cradle frame on this bike which gives more rigidity and also ensures the longevity.
Instrument Cluster and Switch gears: The Discover 150F uses a digital-analog instrument cluster. The digital unit has a clock, a fuel gauge, an odometer and a tripmeter while the speedometer is an analog unit. The instrument cluster has no tachometer whatsoever. The switch gear comes with a high beam flasher, and an engine kill switch and other standard switches. The bike also has a low fuel and a low battery indicator.
Engine and performance: The Bajaj Discover 150F has 144.5cc 4 stroke, single cylinder, air cooled, SOHC, 2 valve, DTS-I with ExhausTEC, carbureted engine which can produce an impressive 14.5 BHP of peak power @8500 RPM and 12.75 NM of peak torque @6500 RPM. All this power is transmitted through a 5 speed, all up, wet multiplate gear box. The bike comes with both kick and electric starter. The official mileage claim for this bike is impressive 72KMPL while the top speed claimed 110 KMPH which we believe stretchable. The fuel capacity of the bike is 10-liters.
Dimensions and Handling Performance: The Discover 150F has dimensions of 2038mm in length, 714mm in width and 1070 in height. The ground clearance being 165mm, the bike should be capable of avoid most of the obstacles on the road. The wheelbase is decent 1305mm. The dry weight is 132 KG which is decent considering a semi-fairing.
The 150F is equipped with 240mm disk break, 80/100-17” tire and a telescopic 130mm forks at the front while a 130mm drum break, 100/90-17” tire and a 110mm mono shock absorber at the rear. With all this the bike should be as impressive to handle on the road as its name promises.
Conclusion: The Bajaj Discover 150F is a perfect combination of power, performance and efficiency in the 150cc commuter segment and a real flagship of the Discover series. The main goal of this bike is fuel efficiency and commuting around city with style and power. In which this bike hits a bulls eye.
